You are Invited to a Fun and Food Filled Fundraiser
for Peters Park
At Farm & Fable and Polkadog
Wednesday July 29, 2015

The Joe Wex Dog Recreation Space (DRS) in Peters Park was the first Dog Park sanctioned by the City of Boston. Hundreds of dogs and people from greater Boston use the dog run regularly ever since 2006. Regular maintenance of the DRS costs the Friends of Peters Park $10,000 a year, and as required, “FoPP” privately funds that expense through the generosity of neighborhood residents and businesses.

After so much use, the DRS needs significant refurbishment. The Dog Park’s stone surface and substrate levels need to be redone to maintain good drainage and safety. In order to fund it, “FoPP” is conducting a $100,000 campaign: $50,000 in capital for the DRS renovation, and $50,000 to build future reserves for the DRS and Peters Park.

Richard Gordon and Andrew Barker, owners of South End Buttery and longtime neighbors and dog lovers, have given the FoPP Board a wonderful challenge grant. If we raise $5,000 at the July 29th event, Richard and Andrew will match that with another $5,000. If we raise a further $5,000, “FoPP” will match that with another $5,000. Additionally Polkadog will donate the proceeds of their homemade treats to the benefit of Peters Park on July 29th and on August 1st & 2nd.

Please help us meet this goal and come have a good time!

Please join Boston Parks Commissioner Chris Cook, and chefs
from the South End Buttery at this special evening of great food and cool cooking lessons.

Help us raise $5,000 at the event and The South End Buttery will match it!

We Need Your Help

The Peters Park dog run and surrounding park area is officially into fundraising mode in order to refurbish the park.  After 10 years of heavy use the dog run surface and sub surface are not allowing for proper drainage resulting in some potential health hazards.    To replenish the dog run surface and surrounding park area we'll need to raise $100,000. Please visit our "HELP US" tab noted above and make your donation to be a part of a caring group keen on ensuring safety and the sustainability of our beloved dog run.  The financial thermometer above will track our progress from week to week, it will be updated each Monday morning for your review.  We are a 501c organization making your donation a tax exempt transaction.  The Friends of Peters Park will also add more detail about the full refurbishment agenda, please look to our "Dog Park" tab on May 11th for more information.
