Peters Park is open daily from 6 am to 10 pm
and is located in Boston's South End
(Directions)
Peters Park Art provides local community members with an opportunity to express themselves through art. It is for everyone’s enjoyment and is an asset to the neighborhood, which has traditionally had an abundance of artists. Current expressions include the “Mural Wall” (by the tennis court), which is refreshed periodically by a group of graffiti artists, with topics and design oversight from the city. The “LandWave” project is a privately-funded, permanent landscape architectural sculpture, located in the strip between the ball field and the Washington Street sidewalk. It reflects the original site of the narrow land connection between the city of Boston and the mainland. Construction has begun. It will be interrupted by the winter and finished in the early spring, with a gala celebration. For more information, see www.landwave.org
Want to get involved? Do you have some ideas of other ways that artistic expression can be incorporated into the Park? If you would like a way to express yourself that becomes a part of Peters Park—- ideas could include sculptures, trash barrels, planters and planting, tot lot items, benches, graphics and signage, events, etc.—- we’d love to hear from you at arts@peterspark.org .
